Katy Doncaster and I have just completed another installation at the very wonderful Scarthin Books in Cromford, Derbyshire.
We love working with Scarthin Books, their ethos is incredibly inspiring, as is every nook and cranny of the shop - a feast of second-hand and new books with images, quotes, notes and objects dotted about all over.
We've created a rug on the ceiling of the Art Room, using a colour scheme to reflect the lovely big rug in there and thinking of Victorian / Edwardian drawing rooms. We've worked with the themes of the books in the room (art, textiles, antiques, collections, costumes etc) and we've set up a series of still life images of various objects and photographed these; the objects all have meaning, stories and memories associated with them.
We've then printed these out, created mirror images of them and used them to form a repeat pattern that fills the ceiling.
There's more images and information on the website Katy and I have to share the work and projects we create together: Some Curious Finds
