work with paintExploration of different ways of using paint has featured a lot in projects I’ve worked on, ranging from creation of large murals to smaller wax resist images. I love to explore colour and texture and paint offers many wonderful ways for this to happen. It’s often
combined with other resources and added into a mix of materials used in projects. Colour mixing holds an endless fascination for children as does the different ways that paint will behave on different surfaces. With children I use a range of paints for different effects and discoveries – powder paint, ready-mixed paint, water colours, inks, acrylics, paints we make from natural resources and more. With paint it’s so much to do with the explorations of textures and colour that are so engrossing, especially when working with young children. I love to explore unexpected effects and children are drawn to use paint (and other materials) in a scientific / alchemy like way as they mix and combine and test out ideas about what will happen. |
